Greenhouses shelter plants, not people

With the introduction of the Eurocode, existing regulations and standards on greenhouses have also been adapted, for example the Dutch NEN 3859: 2012-09, Commercial Production Greenhouses and the German DIN SPEC 18071: 2014-03, Commercial Production Greenhouses, as well as DIN SPEC 18072: 2014-03, Sales Greenhouses.
Between 2013 and 2016, up to nineteen European countries voted for steps to be taken to review the European Greenhouse Norm EN 13031. In 2019 nine National Members approved the final draft, none disapproved. Active participation was limited to a few countries, where major manufacturers and / or research facilities are located. However greenhouses are being built almost everywhere in and outside Europe.
The purpose of this website is to provide scientific and technical background information to everyone on the structural design of greenhouses as it is proposed in the new EN 13031. The aim is a better-informed decision procedure, once the new norm EN 13031 is published, implemented within the national building regulations and applied in practice.
